Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made an enquiry for Basel midfielder Birkir Bjarnason as the club's influx of signings under new Chinese owners Fosun continues.
The 28-year-old, who joined the Swiss Super League champions last summer for £1.7m, was part of the Iceland team that excelled at Euro 2016 and scored his country's first ever goal in a major tournament, grabbing the equaliser against Portugal in their opening group game.
According to the Fotbolti website, new Wolves manager Walter Zenga has "a high opinion" of Bjarnason and is keen to bring him to Molineux before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Bjarnason's form at the Euros led to interest from a host of clubs across Europe, including Serie A outfit Roma and Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach.
If he moves to Wolves, Bjarnason would link up with national teammate Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who joined the Midlands side earlier this month from FC Kaiserslautern.
