Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly identified one of Galatasaray's star men as a potential transfer target for 2025.
The West Midlands outfit have endured somewhat of a topsy-turvy campaign, spending much of the opening three-and-a-half months of the season in the Premier League relegation zone.
However, Gary O'Neil's side are currently on a four-match unbeaten streak, their tally across that period taken up to eight points on Saturday afternoon as they recorded a 4-1 victory at Fulham.
With Wolves having posed a constant threat in the final third of late, reports have indicated that priority will be placed on acquiring a new centre-back during the January window.
Nevertheless, it appears that O'Neil and the club's recruitment team are giving consideration to trying to sign one of the continental stars of the season.
Midlands return for Akgun?
As per Takvim, Galatasaray playmaker Yunus Akgun is on the radar of Wolves ahead of 2025.
The 24-year-old is no stranger to English football having spent last season on loan at Leicester City, chipping in with one goal and three assists from 23 appearances in the Championship.
Although Akgun was only used as a squad player by then-Foxes head coach Enzo Maresca, he has since established himself as a star man back at parent club Galatasaray.
A total of six goals and two assists have come from his 16 appearances in all competitions, four of his strikes coming in the Europa League.
Most notably, the left winger has netted in each of the games against PAOK, RFS, Elfsborg and Tottenham Hotspur, putting him joint-top of the scoring charts alongside two other players.
Akgun is contracted to Galatasaray until 2026, leaving both the player and club with decisions to make over the next phase of his career.
If Wolves were to pursue a move for Akgun, it is claimed that an approach is more likely to come in the summer than at the start of next year.
Sales required
Wolves would need to sell at least one of their big-earning players who are several years older than Akgun if they want to sign the Turkey international.
Pablo Sarabia - out of contract at the end of the season - and Hwang Hee-chan are both realistic options to leave Molineux during one of the next two transfer windows.
The same can be said for Goncalo Guedes, despite the Portugal international netting as a substitute at Craven Cottage last weekend.
