Wolverhampton Wanderers allegedly ended their bid to sign Renato Sanches due to demands made by Lille.

On Monday evening, it was claimed that Wolves were in discussions with the Ligue 1 champions regarding a season-long loan deal for the Portugal international.

Wolves were seemingly prepared to agree a deal despite the 24-year-old being unavailable until October due to a knee injury.

However, according to Maisfutebol, Lille were only happy to give the green light to a temporary deal if Wolves paid €30m (£25.73m) next summer.

Wolves have since shelved plans to sign Sanches unless the French outfit lower their asking price over the coming hours.

The Premier League side remain in the market for a new midfielder, with Morgan Gibbs-White due to link up with Sheffield United on loan.
