Kimi Raikkonen: 'I should have qualified higher for Hungarian Grand Prix'

Kimi Raikkonen believes that he would have qualified higher for the Hungarian Grand Prix if his car didn't suffer problems in the final practice session.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has revealed that a problem in free practice cost him in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Finn will start fifth for tomorrow's race, two places behind his teammate Sebastian Vettel, but he took no part in the final free practice session in the morning due to a technical problem.

The former champion claims this cost him, but he is remaining optimistic ahead of the race.

He is quoted as saying by Autosport: "We are third and fifth so I don't think it was a disaster. We missed time in the morning because of an issue so it was a bit unknown for qualifying.

"It wasn't too bad but I should have been higher up. Mercedes will be strong, but we will try to be second best if we can. At least we are not on the inside [of the grid], I can try and get a good start and see what happens from there."

Raikkonen has finished on the Hungarian podium seven times, and won the race back in 2005.
