Mattia Binotto, the ex-Ferrari chief, might be making a comeback to Formula 1, this time with Aston Martin.

The Italian, who was succeeded by Frederic Vasseur at Ferrari at the close of 2022, was observed last weekend at Imola, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He has been linked many times with Audi," Luigi Perna notes, "and then there were rumours regarding an offer from Alpine."

However, it was Binotto's extensive discussion with Aston Martin's owner, Lawrence Stroll, at Imola that caught attention. Perna believes Stroll has "real interest in having Binotto as team principal."

Currently, Aston Martin is led by team boss Mike Krack.
