Ferrari appears to be evaluating an expansion into Formula E.

This all-electric single-seater championship already features well-known entities like Porsche, Jaguar, Maserati, Nissan, Andretti, and McLaren.

"Ferrari is said to have had discussions with Formula E about a possible participation in the championship," Matthijs Nijhuis reports in the Dutch publication Formule 1.

Last year, the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello disclosed plans indicating that by 2026, "approximately 60 percent of Ferrari's (road car) offer will be split between fully electric and hybrid cars."

The iconic Italian brand also targets achieving "carbon neutral" status by 2030," with a "major pivot to electrification" currently in progress at Ferrari.

Construction is ongoing for a new facility in Maranello, set to be "responsible for manufacturing electric motors, battery packs, and power inverters."

Correspondent Nijhuis further notes that Formula E's CEO, Jeff Dodds, recently acknowledged Ferrari's "interest in participating in the championship."

He also mentioned a statement from a Ferrari spokesperson confirming that "exploratory discussions" between the celebrated carmaker and Formula E have indeed been conducted. body check tags ::
