Ferrari technical director James Allison has insisted that the team need to be more competitive following their performance at the Australian Grand Prix.
Driver Fernando Alonso finished fourth on the day where Mercedes's Nico Rosberg was crowned champion in Melbourne, while his teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished seventh.
"While we can take some satisfaction from the reliability shown by the F14T, it is clear that we have our work cut out to improve our car in order to compete on equal terms with the Mercedes team," Autosport quotes Allison as saying.
"Our competitiveness was not acceptable in Melbourne, nut we intend to fight our way back up the grid with the improvements that we will bring to the car."
The Malaysian Grand Prix is next on the calendar on March 30.
