Adrian Newey, a legendary Formula 1 designer, was recently seen in Italy.
Amid internal disputes at Red Bull, several key figures including Newey, Dr. Helmut Marko, and Max Verstappen have been subjects of exit rumours.
It has come to light that Newey, aged 65, reportedly had a disagreement with his long-time friend Christian Horner. Around the same time, a social media post suggesting Newey regretted never working for Ferrari was 'liked' by his wife, Amanda.
"Now's your chance to tick off those regrets, Adrian," was the caption on the liked post.
While Newey is bound by a contract to Red Bull until 2026, recent team upheavals may have altered his circumstances.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Aston Martin has extended a significant financial offer to Newey, prompting Marko to comment, "I don't think it was the first offer he's received and I don't think it will be the last."
Journalist Michael Schmidt of Auto Motor und Sport reports, "Losing Adrian Newey would be just as great as losing Max Verstappen. And there is nothing he hates more than internal politics. Ever since things started going wrong at Red Bull, the competition has tasted blood."
Newey has previously acknowledged receiving substantial offers from Ferrari, which he declined to avoid relocating his family and younger children to Italy.
"But at the end of his career, it would be the crowning achievement," Schmidt explains, adding, "And it seems that this time he is serious. Newey was recently spotted at the airport in Bologna." The city lies just an hour away from Ferrari's base.
With Ferrari's potential acquisition of Newey and having already secured Lewis Hamilton for 2025 and beyond, F1 legend Gerhard Berger suggests a new era reminiscent of Michael Schumacher's dominance at Maranello could be on the horizon.
"With Hamilton instead of Michael," Berger remarked, hinting at the significant implications of these developments. body check tags ::
