Following what has been described as one of the most tedious and predictable Formula 1 races ever, Pirelli has announced that it is developing a new, softer tyre compound for 2025.

"Was Monaco the most boring race ever?" is the headline of an analytical article published by Auto Motor und Sport after the race.

The race's dynamics were further dampened by a red flag on the first lap, which allowed drivers to complete their required tyre changes early, casting doubts on the effectiveness of some of Pirelli's current tyre compounds in maintaining race excitement.

Mario Isola, the head of F1 operations at Pirelli, mentioned that the tyre manufacturing giant has been planning the introduction of a new softer 'C6' compound for the 2025 season for a while now.

"The idea is to introduce a softer C6 compound as more city circuits appear on the calendar," he stated.

"We will expand the range of soft tyres and take measures to prevent overheating. The big challenge is finding the right balance between overheating and degradation," he further explained.

Ferrari and its race drivers conducted the initial tests of this new tyre last week at the Paul Ricard circuit.

"This was the first attempt," Isola confirmed. "The proposal initially came from us, with the goal of moving away from a one-stop strategy to encourage two-stop strategies." body check tags ::
