Sergio Perez says that Jules Bianchi's crash at the Japanese Grand Prix is "not acceptable" and could have been avoided.

Force India driver Sergio Perez has claimed that changes need to be made by the FIA following Jules Bianchi's 'unacceptable' crash at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Frenchman is in a critical but stable condition at the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi after suffering a severe head injury at Suzuka.

The Marussia driver collided with the recovery vehicle tending to Adrian Sutil's Sauber during the rain-affected race last Sunday.

Perez has claimed that the drivers will contact the FIA for "explanations of what happened and what are we going to change going forward".

"It is not acceptable," BBC Sport quotes Perez as saying. "We have to look for answers from the FIA on what happened in this tragic accident. We have to make sure they hear us. We will go through the full detail."

Bianchi is being treated by brain specialist Gerard Saillant, who worked on Michael Schumacher following the former F1 driver's skiing accident back in December last year.
