Sauber plan major changes at Japanese Grand Prix

Swiss F1 team Sauber plan to introduce major updates at next weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

Formula 1 team Sauber will introduce a major update package at the Japanese Grand Prix as they look to climb the constructor standings.

With five races left of the 2011 championship the Swiss team are currently seventh but are looking to overhaul Force India, who are 12 points ahead of them.

Sauber, who are represented in races by Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez, have scored only one point in the last four grands prix but technical director James Key says that this will change in Suzuka.

"We will bring a wide-ranging aero package for the car, which includes a completely new front wing, new rear wings, new turning vanes and side pod deflectors, new brake ducts and modifications to the floor," he said.

"This was always planned for Suzuka and, if it all works well, it should give us a reasonable step forward.

"Obviously we want to bounce back from some recent bad luck. Going into the final quarter of the season there will be tracks which should suit our car better."

The Japanese Grand Prix takes place at Suzuka next weekend, when Sebastian Vettel is expected to tie up his second world championship.
