Former Marussia boss Graeme Lowdon has revealed that he is still hoping to return the team to Formula 1 despite ongoing uncertainty over its future.
The Oxfordshire-based outfit had looked set for a reprieve before Force India chief Bob Fernley blocked them, citing a lack of "substance" behind any resurrection of the constructor.
However, in a statement headlined "Manor F1 Team", which is how the team is named on the 2015 entry list, Lowdon challenged Fernley's position and suggested that Marussia would continue to push for a way back into racing.
The statement read: "I was surprised to hear some of the comments made today, particularly regarding an application we were said to have made to yesterday's meeting.
"We are proceeding with our clear process regarding compliance and building our operation. We are doing everything possible to adhere to the process set out for us to return to the 2015 grid. This is a fantastic good news story for the whole sport and we just want to go racing."
Marussia collected their only points in F1 when Jules Bianchi claimed ninth place at last season's Monaco Grand Prix.
