McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso have both hinted at a possible departure from the team at the end of the current season.

The British team are currently ninth in the constructors' championship with just 17 points, and Button was quick to refute claims made by McLaren supremo Ron Dennis that the 2009 World Champion would remain at the team after a disappointing 16th-place finish in the Japanese Grand Prix.

Speaking to reporters after the race, Button said: "It's up to Ron what he says. It's not the right time to say anything because nothing is done.

"I feel like a samurai without his armour or his sword."

Alonso was also asked by reporters if he would stay at McLaren in 2016, to which he responded: "I don't know."

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton extended his championship lead to 48 points with a victory in the race earlier today.
