Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has avoid the possibility of a points penalty for an incident involving Lewis Hamilton at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
During the closing stages of the race, Verstappen held his line to prevent Hamilton from overtaking him, a move which was deemed legal at the time.
However, Mercedes argue that alternative replays of the incident appear to suggest that Verstappen drove too aggressively to ensure that he kept first place.
Had Formula 1 officials agreed with the view of Mercedes, Verstappen could have been handed a time penalty which could have demoted the Dutchman down to third position, costing him a further three points.
Nevertheless, the FIA says that Mercedes did not produce enough evidence for them to consider overturning the initial call made by stewards.
Hamilton was still able to win the race at Interlagos, moving him to within 14 points of Championship leader Verstappen. body check tags ::
