Mercedes technical director Paddy Lowe has said that his team have accelerated their development plan after Ferrari's win in Malaysia.
Sebastian Vettel won the Italian team's first race in two years in the heat of Sepang, and Lowe has admitted that Mercedes will do everything they can to hit back in China this weekend.
He told BBC Sport: "It is now clearer than ever that there is serious competition for this world championship, so we will continue to work flat out for performance gains.
"We have a range of new aerodynamic developments for Shanghai and are targeting an improved performance from Malaysia."
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton leads the world championship by three points.
