Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has clocked the fastest time in the first practice of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
The 29-year-old said earlier this week that he is determined to win his home race after he married his long-time partner and Germany won the World Cup in Brazil.
Williams driver Susie Wolff encountered problems once again after her milestone appearance at Silverstone ended abruptly.
The Scot came to a stop on the track at Hockenheim because her Williams got stuck in first gear, but after returning to the pits to fix the problem, Wolff was able to venture back out and complete 20 laps with a quickest time of 1:20.769s.
Lewis Hamilton, who is battling teammate Rosberg for the drivers' championship title, had a poor start as he locked up at turn nine and went off-roading at turn six.
However, the Brit was able to recover and secure the second-fastest time of the session in Germany, while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso clocked the third-quickest time and Daniel Ricciardo in his Red Bull was fourth-fastest.
