Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is pleased with his performance in qualifying despite losing out on pole position to teammate Nico Rosberg.

The current world champion was out-qualified by his Mercedes teammate for only the second time this season, after red flags in the final session stopped the Englishman from having another crack at beating Rosberg's time.

A big crash from Daniil Kyvat prematurely ended the final qualifying session, with the Russian driver managing to walk away unharmed, leaving Hamilton to think what could have been after starting his final lap quicker than the German's original time.

"On the first lap I lost a bit of time into Turn 11 and into the last corner," Hamilton told Sky Sports News.

"Nico is driving well this weekend, but I felt pretty good on the last lap. The lap started off so well, I was a tenth and a half up by Turn Seven and then the red flag came out out and I was like 'no!'."

The two Mercedes drivers complete the front row, while Valterri Bottas and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel make up the top four for tomorrow's Grand Prix.
