Lewis Hamilton has topped the timesheet for the first practice session ahead of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.
The 30-year-old, who this week signed a new three-year deal with Mercedes, finished with a time of 1:18.750.
That is half a second slower than the time he posted at this stage last year, when he also came out on top in first practice.
Max Verstappen of Toro Rosso sprung a surprise by clocking the second fastest time, finishing just 0.149 off Hamilton in his first ever session on the famous Monaco streets, while Nico Rosberg - winner of this event for the past two years - finished down in ninth.
