Alpine's efforts to overcome a severe performance slump in Formula 1 will pause briefly as the sport returns to Europe.

Many teams, including Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin, will introduce major car upgrades for the first European race of 2024 this weekend at Imola.

"In the last two races, we have been able to unlock some performance courtesy of our upgrades," said Alpine boss Bruno Famin this week.

One major achievement for the Renault-linked team has been reducing the weight of their new car, which was initially over the limit by more than 10kg, to now meet the minimum weight requirement.

Famin announced, "We will not be bringing any significant upgrades over the next few races, but we keep pushing hard at the factories to improve the car and extract more performance."

Efforts to improve continue on the track, with De Zandvoortse Courant reporting that reserve driver Jack Doohan tested a 2022 car at the Dutch GP venue for two days this week. body check tags ::
