Mick Schumacher, aged 25 and the son of legendary Michael Schumacher, is now being viewed as a strong prospect for a move to Indycar by 2025.
While Schumacher continues to pursue his ambitions of a Formula 1 comeback, he is currently engaged with Alpine in the world endurance championship and also fulfills the role of a reserve driver for Mercedes.
It was recently revealed that Prema Racing, a prominent Italian team known for their Formula 2 and F3 programs, plans to expand into Indycar starting next year with two cars.
Presently, Prema's Formula 2 team showcases the talents of Oliver Bearman and Kimi Antonelli. Notably, Schumacher has a history with Prema, having clinched his F2 and F3 championships under their banner, based in Veneto.
"When Prema joins a championship, it is not to make up the numbers," remarked Rene Rosin, the team boss.
According to Auto Hebdo in France, Prema is considering pairing an experienced Indycar driver with a newcomer from the European racing circuits for their 2025 lineup.
Schumacher is seen as a fitting candidate for this role.
"He has never hidden his ambition to return to single seaters," noted Gonzalo Forbes, a correspondent. "The German could unite with the Rosin clan again for a possible return to service in Indycar in 2025." body check tags ::
