Jenson Button has said that yesterday’s Canadian Grand Prix win was the best performance of his career to date.
Making six pit stops, McLaren driver fought his way from 21st place to snatch first position from Sebastian Vettel in the final lap.
The rain-sodden race saw him clash with both Fernando Alonso and his own teammate Lewis Hamilton, who was forced to retire as a result of the run-in during the eighth lap.
“It’s the most action I’ve seen in a grand prix win and I’ve come away with a win,” the BBC quotes him as saying. “To fight my way through from last is definitely my best race.
“Even if I hadn’t won this race I would have enjoyed it immensely, but it was an amazing win. Fighting your way through the field is almost as good as winning the race - to be on the podium was a pretty exceptional result.”
Mark Webber took the third place on the podium.
