Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has confirmed that next year's German Grand Prix has been brought forward by one week with a view to adding another event.
The race will now take place on July 7, allowing for a race to be added on July 21.
F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport: "I am going to Istanbul to see if we can get the Turkish GP back before participating at the World Council."
2013 had originally been expected to have 20 races, but plans for a new Grand Prix in New Jersey fell through, leaving only 19 on the provisional calendar.
France had also been keen to return to F1, but neither the Magny-Cours nor Paul Ricard circuits have been able to agree deals.
