Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan has paid tribute to former Marussia test driver Maria de Villota, who was found dead in the early hours of Friday morning.
Jordan said that the entire Formula 1 community was saddened by the loss of a person who was recovering well from her crash in 2012.
"She was a wonderful figurehead," Jordan told BBC Sport. "She showed the world how she was going to beat [the setback], find a new life and come back to motor-racing.
"It is a very sombre place here [at the Japanese Grand Prix]. It's a very close community and everyone is thinking about the great sense of loss."
De Villota was in Spain for the launch of her book on Monday.
