Former Formula 1 driver Sir Stirling Moss does not believe that women would be able to compete in professional racing.
The 83-year-old, who never won the World Championship, has also questioned female drivers' ability to perform in stress situations.
"We've got some very strong and robust ladies, but, when your life is at risk, I think the strain of that in a competitive situation will tell when you're trying to win," Moss told BBC Sport.
"The mental stress I think would be pretty difficult for a lady to deal with in a practical fashion. I just don't think they have aptitude to win a Formula 1 race."
Moss's last professional race was the 1961 United States Grand Prix.
