Mark Webber wants consistency

Red Bull driver Mark Webber believes that he can make a mark in this season's Formula 1 campaign.

Red Bull driver Mark Webber has admitted that he needs to rediscover his consistency if he is to make a mark in the Formula 1 season.

Webber, who will race in the Australian Grand Prix this weekend, came close to claiming the title in 2010, but has underperformed in the last two seasons.

"I think I was very, very consistent in 2011 as well, but obviously the overall pace wasn't there - or there were not enough wins there. The back half of 2012 was the first time I had a few DNFs and a few non-decent points finishes," he told Autosport.

"I think 2010/2011 were very similar, the difference was in 2011 was that Seb amassed a huge number of wins very, very fast so that was pretty much done. Last year started very, very well and then towards the end of that year, we had a couple of races where I didn't drive very well and we had more than our fair share of mechanical gremlins which didn't help.

"But have I got what it takes to do that again? Absolutely. I am capable of doing it, no question about that. I believe I can."

Webber recently claimed that he has no plans to move on from Red Bull.
