Sebastian Vettel has said that he is "sad" the Formula 1 season is over.

The world champion won today's Brazilian Grand Prix, which was a record ninth consecutive race victory.

Speaking after the race, the German praised his "phenomenal" car and his team for providing him with the tools to win a fourth championship at the age of 26.

"I am actually quite sad the season is coming to an end. The car has been phenomenal and has been getting better in every race," he told BBC Sport.

"It was very difficult at the end today with the rain but I am extremely proud and a big thanks to the team and a big thanks to Renault as well."

Vettel also paid tribute to his teammate, Mark Webber, who finished his last ever race in second place, saying that while there have been moments when their relationship has been strained, they "respect" each other.

He added: "Thanks to Mark, we didn't have the best of relationships but we have also have always had a lot of respect for each other and we have been a very successful pairing for the team."

Vettel's win was the 39th of his career.
