Daniel Ricciardo's time away from Formula 1 may not last much longer.

The prominent German publication Bild claims that the new Cadillac F1 team, set to debut in 2026 under the leadership of former Marussia chief Graeme Lowdon, is considering the ex-Red Bull driver.

"The Australian is the top candidate for a seat at the American team," the Bild report stated.

Speculation suggests Cadillac is searching for not only a seasoned driver to mentor a younger American teammate but also someone who can serve as a "marketing and promotional figurehead."

"His addition to the Cadillac line-up would instantly elevate the team's profile," Bild added.

Meanwhile, The Sun in Britain reports that Ricciardo, now 35, has received alternative offers to race in Australia's Supercars series or join Toyota in NASCAR starting from 2026.

Reflecting on his career after losing his Red Bull seat to Liam Lawson earlier this year, Ricciardo commented: "It will always have its highs and lows but it's been fun and truth be told I wouldn't change it.
