Williams driver Felipe Massa has said that he does not regret ignoring team orders during the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Brazilian was instructed to allow his teammate Valtteri Bottas to overtake him in the closing stages in order to finish ahead of McLaren's Jenson Button.

"I was just fighting to the end," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "I was very close to Button. I didn't want to lose the opportunity to gain more positions. I will fight for my career in the way I want to.

"I didn't do anything wrong because we were fighting another car. I don't regret anything. I believe it was the right thing to do."

Button finished sixth in the race, while Massa ended up a place ahead of Bottas in seventh.
