Logan Sargeant might be facing his last Formula 1 race in Miami.
There is increasing speculation that Kimi Antonelli, a 17-year-old under the tutelage of Toto Wolff, is being groomed for an immediate racing debut with the Mercedes-backed Williams team at the upcoming Grand Prix in Imola.
Last weekend, the promising Italian racer conducted a quiet test run with Mercedes' 2022 car at the Imola circuit in Italy.
"It's said that from Imola, Kimi will immediately be in F1," noted Leo Turrini, an Italian F1 analyst, in his column for Quotidiano.
Securing an F1 super license, however, may present a significant hurdle for Antonelli, especially after the age requirement was raised to 18 years following Max Verstappen's early debut.
"Is it a good idea to put him into a Williams straight away? It's not exactly a great car," Turrini expressed his reservations. "I hope Toto Wolff knows what he's doing."
Ralf Schumacher, a former F1 competitor, prefers his nephew Mick over Antonelli, but supports the whispered plans to replace American Sargeant, 23.
"I think he and the team would do themselves a favour if they could find a solution," Schumacher shared with formel1.de. "I don't understand the patience they've had with him."
"He is clearly overwhelmed, he's made many mistakes, and his body language says it all. Eddie Jordan or Frank Williams would never have had such patience." body check tags ::
