World number one Rory McIlroy has dismissed any concerns regarding his choice of driver for this week's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
McIlroy used a different driver in practice on Wednesday, but after his decision was compared to Phil Mickelson's change of clubs before the 2004 Ryder Cup, the Northern Irishman revealed that he has been practicing with the equipment since the middle of the summer.
The 25-year-old told reporters: "Phil changed from one manufacturer to another whereas this is a driver that I have been using in practice since June, and I wouldn't be putting it in the bag if I didn't feel that it was better.
"I think that everyone saw yesterday that it was the only driver that I had out there so it is looking likely that it is going to be in the bag this week."
The three-day competition in Scotland gets underway on Friday morning.
