Paul Casey excited to play without pressure

Paul Casey believes that he will benefit from playing without pressure as he looks to close the gap on Jordan Spieth at The Masters.

Paul Casey has claimed that he will relish the opportunity to play without pressure in the final two days at The Masters.

The former world number three continued his fine form to reach seven-under-par on Friday, but he faces a battle to close the gap on Jordan Spieth, who is currently seven strokes better off.

However, Casey insists that he is not worried about the current situation on the leaderboard and he believes that competing with the spotlight on the 21-year-old American should suit him.

"I'm very happy," he told reporters. "I've played wonderful golf, I really have. I struck it better today than yesterday.

"It is soft out there. I think the cloud cover stopped the course from drying out, but I've never thought this course could yield 14 under at the halfway stage. I'm ecstatic I'm playing so well, but what Jordan has done out there is brilliant.

"It's actually really nice and relaxing to be seven back because there's no pressure. You have to aim at flags and take it on and push a little bit more. This course has always required you to push - you're rewarded when you hit great shots."

Casey will be competing at the weekend in the first Major of the year for the first time since 2011.
