Scottie Scheffler has retained control of the Masters after shooting an up-and-down 71 during Saturday's third round.

The world number one cancelled out five bogeys with six birdies, another sublime display securing him a three-shot lead ahead of the closing 18 holes.

Scheffler will have Cameron Smith for company on Sunday, the recently-crowned Players Championship winner posting a round-of-the-day 68 to move to six-under-par.

Im Sung-jae overcame a slow start to end the day in third spot, albeit six shots adrift of Scheffler, while Ireland's Shane Lowry and South Africa's Charl Schwartzel are in a share of fourth.

Justin Thomas and Corey Conners are the remaining two players to stay under par for the tournament, with former champion Danny Willett the best of the British contingent in eighth position.

Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood are in a group of players who are in ninth spot, ending Saturday's play on one-over-par.

However, Tiger Woods endured a frustrating time on the greens, the returning five-time champion three-putting on several occasions to post a 78, dropping down to tied-41st. body check tags ::
