Chris Wood has revealed that he is planning to put in a competitive performance when he participates at his second Masters tournament in April.

The 28-year-old previously appeared at Augusta National in 2010, having earned participation thanks to a tied third-place finish at The Open the year prior, but failed to make the cut after rounds of 78 and 76.

Now Wood, who finished the year as world number 44 after a strong performance in Sun City in December, believes that he is a "completely different golfer" and is in a position to challenge this time around.

"I'd only been a year on Tour and felt so inexperienced last time. Looking back now I can't believe I was there, to be honest," Wood told Sky Sports News.

"But I'm a completely different golfer know. I feel I'll be able to go there and compete, whereas before I probably felt I was only there making up the numbers."

Rory McIlroy is the favourite with bookmakers to complete his career grand slam in 2016, with odds of 6/1, while Wood is rated at a 250/1 shot.
