Charl Schwartzel has been crowned as the first winner of a LIV Golf event, prevailing at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire by one shot.
Throughout this week, the tournament has received widespread criticism at the same time that another star name in Bryson Dechambeau has opted to leave the PGA Tour.
However, the first of eight competitions is now in the books, Schwartzel being crowned the champion despite carding a two-over-par round on Saturday.
The former Masters champion spearheaded a South African top three, Hennie Du Plessis and Branden Grace finishing behind him on the leaderboard.
Grace ended the tournament in joint third alongside Peter Uihlein, who holed a lengthy putt on the final hole to boost his earnings from $975,000 to $1.27m.
Meanwhile, Schwartzel takes home the winners' cheque of $4m, finishing 31 shots ahead of last-placed Andy Ogletree who still collected $120,000.
Of the other big names competing in the event, Dustin Johnson earned $625,000 for eighth position, with Phil Mickelson all the way down in 33rd spot.
Stinger - a team which features Schwartzel, Du Plessis, Grace and Louis Oosthuizen - won the team competition by 14 shots, earning a further $750,000 each.
