The world's top two players, Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald, both finished day two of the Tour Championship on 11-under par for a share of a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.
Scot Marc Warren has also taken 133 strokes at the halfway stage of the tournament, held at the Juremiah Golf Estates.
Donald was the outright leader overnight, but both McIlroy and Warren gained a stroke on what was a profitable day for the British representation in Dubai.
South African duo Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace are one shot further back on 10-under par, but it was Sergio Garcia who produced the round of the day.
Despite making a triple bogey, the Spaniard shot a course-record 64 courtesy of holing two eagles and nine birdies.
