Ross Fisher has hit a five-under-par 66 to take the lead at the Welsh Open at Celtic Manor.
Fisher consolidated his round of 70 from Thursday with six birdies to open up a two-shot lead over first-round leader Lee Slattery.
Slattery had slipped into a group of players on two-under-par but an eagle at the eleventh halved Fisher's lead.
Raphael Jacquelin went one better than Fisher and hit a six-under 65 to atone his round of 76 from Thursday and finish one-under-par at the halfway stage.
Jose Maria Olazabal, who will captain Europe's Ryder Cup team, looked set to miss the cut after slipping to six-over-par with nine holes to play.
