Tony Jacklin backs Jordan Spieth for Grand Slam win

Golf legend Tony Jacklin backs Jordan Spieth to win the next two Majors and complete the Grand Slam.

Tony Jacklin has backed Jordan Spieth to emulate Tiger Woods by becoming the second golfer in the modern era to complete a Grand Slam of titles.

Spieth secured victory at the US Open at Chambers Bay on Sunday to win his second Major of 2015, having won The Masters at Augusta in April.

Consequently, the 21-year-old is halfway to emulating Woods by holding all four of the sport's most prestigious titles simultaneously.

Jacklin, a two-time Major winner himself, now says that the youngster has what it takes to secure a clean sweep by winning the British Open in July and the PGA Championship the following month.

"It's very possible. I don't bet very often on golf, but I backed him to win last week," he told Sky Sports News. "I just think he's just the most rounded out player in the world right now and has been since he came on the scene.

"He's the best putter beyond questionable doubt and if he gets the right weather over the first two days at St. Andrews, which you can do at an Open, I can see him winning there too.

"I think he's as good as anybody and he's got youth on his side and has such marvellous confidence. He thinks he's immortal at this stage."

Spieth is second only to Rory McIlroy in the world rankings.
