American golfer John Daly could face suspension from the European Tour after storming out of the Australian Open halfway through his opening round.
The 45-year-old walked off the course after being penalised for hitting six balls into the water on the eleventh hole.
"He's a Tour member on the US Tour and the European Tour, so they need to deal with this in the most serious of fashions. We want it dealt with properly," The Express quotes tournament director Trevor Herden as saying.
"It's very disappointing for the tournament, certainly unprofessional. And I am extremely bitter and disappointed that he has treated this championship this way.
"It's becoming a bit of a habit – something similar happened recently. But it's unacceptable, and I certainly hope that all the Tours deal with it in the appropriate manner this time."
Herden is adamant that the American should not set foot on The Lakes golf course again.
"We have the best field ever and he wants to treat it like this," he said. "It's just not good enough. I would say this will be the last time we see John Daly."
Daly previously abandoned the course at the Austrian Open in September after getting frustrated with a ruling.
