Rory McIlroy has claimed that he is eager to make the most of how well he is driving after one round of the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Northern Irishman leads the tournament following a round of 63 on Thursday and he believes that his form off the tee will give him a good chance of claiming victory.

"I played really well from tee to green, drove the ball well again. I think I only missed a couple of fairways and only missed one green where I had to really get it up and down," McIlroy told reporters.

"I took advantage of how I am driving the ball and just need to do more of the same the next three days."

McIlroy is two shots ahead of Edoardo Molinari ahead of Friday's second round.
