World number one and two golfers Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods failed to make the cut in the Abu Dhabi Championship after struggling in the second round of the tournament.
The Northern Irishman hoped for a turnaround today after shooting a three-over-par round yesterday, while Woods finished the first round on level par.
The 23-year-old shot two birdies on the front nine but dropped shots after shooting five bogeys on the course to finish the round six-over-par, while his American opponent was given a two-shot penalty after he took an illegal drop shot after moving his ball back into the fairway from vines.
While Woods finished the day three-over-par, Englishman Justin Rose went from strength to strength by nabbing a one-shot lead over Jamie Donaldson.
