Ryder Cup-winning captain Jose Maria Olazabal was one of several European players to book a place in next month's US Open courtesy of their performances in this weekend's qualifying event at Walton Heath.
The two-time Major champion, who led Europe to a dramatic final-day comeback over the United States at Medinah last September, triumphed on the first hole of a six-man playoff to guarantee his ticket to the tournament at Merion Golf Club, Pennsylvania.
Simon Khan, a loser in a dramatic shootout with Matteo Manassero at the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday, also secured a return to the event which he last played in 2009.
Former Ryder Cup pair David Howell and Paul Casey, who shot 64 to record the round of the day, were among the other qualifiers.
The 113th US Open begins on June 13.
