Rory McIlroy's opening round of 64 was enough for a share of the lead after the first round of the Hong Kong open.
The 22-year-old laid down an early marker which was matched later in the day by David Horsey and Alvaro Quiros.
"The wind was a big factor. It swirls in these trees, so you just have to trust where the wind is coming from. I was able to do that," said Mcllroy.
"Just getting myself in the position is a start and there might be a couple of things I can do better to turn top-five finishes into wins."
Miguel Angel Jimenez shot 65 to sit just behind the leaders, one clear of Australian Darren Beck and Gareth Maybin.
