Royal Troon has been confirmed as the venue that will hold the Open Championship in 2016.
The course, based in Ayrshire, has not hosted the competition since 2004 but the tournament organisers are happy to be returning to the historic venue.
R&A chief executive Peter Dawson said: "Troon's one of the strongest venues we have for the Open Championship, it's wonderful to be coming back.
"We have nine courses that we use for the Open Championship. They're the best links courses in the country that have the infrastructure to hold a major event and Troon is one of those."
Todd Hamilton won the British Open the last time it was held at Royal Troon.
