Tiger Woods: 'Occasional PGA Tour appearance is realistic'

:Headline: Tiger Woods: 'Occasional PGA Tour appearance is realistic':
Tiger Woods suggests that he is aiming to play 'a few events per year' on the PGA Tour as he continues his recovery from the injuries that he sustained in a car crash.

Tiger Woods has revealed that he will never be able to play a full-time schedule on the PGA Tour after suffering open fractures to his right leg in a car crash earlier this year.

In an exclusive interview with Golf Digest, his first since the incident in February, the 45-year-old revealed that it 'damn near to being 50-50' whether he needed to have his leg amputated after also suffering significant injuries to his ankle and foot.

However, the legendary American has revealed that he is targeting a part-time return to competitive action next year, hinting that he will only be able to participate in a small number of tournaments.

Woods said: "I think something that is realistic is playing the tour one day never full time, ever again but pick and choose, just like Mr. [Ben] Hogan did. Pick and choose a few events a year and you play around that.

"You practice around that, and you gear yourself up for that. I think that's how I'm going to have to play it from now on. It's an unfortunate reality, but it's my reality. And I understand it, and I accept it."

Woods will be in the Bahamas this week to attend his Hero World Challenge event.
