Freddie Couples has won the Senior Open Championship by two shots after making successive birdies in the final two holes in a dramatic finish at Turnberry.
The American started the day one shot behind Bernhard Langer and failed to make a dent in the German's lead before the back nine, but an astonishing collapse from Langer opened the door to his closest rivals.
Couples took the lead on the 12th hole, when Langer carded a double bogey to begin his terrible run of form.
Three more bogeys from Langer pushed the German out of contention for the title but a superb 66 from Gary Halberg meant that Couple's fellow American held the clubhouse lead.
However, a birdie on 17 was followed by a superb 18-foot putt on the final hole to give Couples a win in the competition on his first appearance.
