Miguel Angel Jimenez triumphed in a three-way playoff to win the Spanish Open this afternoon, becoming the first over-50 player to win on the European Tour.
The home favourite, who turned 50 earlier this year, beat Richard Green and Thomas Pieters with a par on the first playoff hole after a tough day of scoring.
Jimenez started the day two shots behind Belgian rookie Pieters, with Green a further shot back.
Green shot a level-par 72 to finish on four-under-par, level with Jimenez (73) and Pieters (75).
Jimenez needed just one hole to clinch victory as he tapped home for par after a chip that almost went in. Green and Pieters could both only manage bogeys.
Jimenez becomes the first player to win twice on The Race to Dubai this season.
