Max Homa has secured victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, prevailing by four shots in Sun City.

Heading into the Ryder Cup, the American had put together some strong performances without getting over the line - his worst finish in seven events being a tied-21st.

However, the world number eight had no issues winning his first trophy outside of the USA on Sunday as he comfortably won the penultimate tournament of this season's DP World Tour.

Although the 32-year-old made bogeys at the fourth and 11th holes, six birdies and an eagle left him in full control heading into the closing two holes.

With pars being more than enough, Home ultimately eased to the win in South Africa, albeit one that is irrelevant in terms of the Race to Dubai Rankings.

With the majority of the rest of the field, trying to secure a top-50 spot in those standings has been the priority this week, with Nicolai Hojgaard and Thorbjorn Olesen finishing behind Homa to comfortably seal their places in next week's finale.

Justin Thomas continued his recent return to form with a fourth-placed finish, one shot ahead of England's Dan Bradbury who improved from 48th to 37th in the Race to Dubai.

Despite finishing in a share of 10th spot for the weekend, Aaron Rai could only make it to 52nd in the yearly standings, missing out to the likes of Matt Wallace (tied-15th) and Jens Dantorp (tied-26th) who shot 67 and 69 respectively on Sunday.
