Wu Ashun won the China Open by one shot to become the first Chinese player to win a European Tour event on home soil.
Wu was one of four players tied at the top of the leaderboard going into the final day in Shanghai, but bogeys from defending champion Alexander Levy and teenager Li Hao-tong saw them drop back.
Englishman David Howell remained level with Wu until the world number 247 made a birdie at the fifth hole, moving him to nine-under par for the tournament.
Howell could not match the 29-year-old's score, carding a level-par 72 on the final day to finish eight under, while a late charge from Argentine Emiliano Grillo fell just short as his three-under round of 69 left him two shots adrift of Wu in a tie for third with Levy and Prom Meesawat.
Wu has previously won two tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour.
