Martin Kaymer has revealed that he was surprised at the lack of noise from crowds at the first day of Ryder Cup practice.
Ryder Cups are almost always noisy, but America's hosting of the tournament usually provides notoriously loud occasions.
However, Kaymer was disappointed with the lack of atmosphere during today's round, although he did acknowledge that things will get louder the closer the tournament gets.
"To be honest, it was still fairly quiet out there today," said Kaymer.
"I was expecting a little bit more, a little bit louder, but maybe they were only for the American teams there.
"Last time I played it was loud and a lot going on in Europe, so I didn't know anything different, so that's why I was a little surprised."
The 2012 Ryder Cup begins this Friday in Chicago with Europe looking to defend the title that they won two years ago.
