US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has said that the players must get the crowd going to give them an advantage at Medinah Country Club.
It has been a poor start for the home team, who currently find themselves trailing in all four matches.
Love III believes that the crowd can give them an advantage, but only if the players get their game going and give them something to cheer about.
"It's not quite got going yet," said the 48-year-old. "It was loud on the first tee.
"We tried to set it up to make a lot of birdies but the rain and cold means that it hasn't really got going yet.
"We need the guys to make a few birdies."
Love III took part in six Ryder Cups as a player.
